The two main type of centrifuges used for extraction are solid bowl and perforated basket centrifuges. Both of these types of centrifuges are excellent at separating liquid/liquid or liquid/solid mixtures. Both will trap particles down to 1 micron or less. Differences in liquid/solid ratios, solid size and flow rates will determine which centrifuge is right for your application. Here is more information on each type explained in greater detail:
Perforated Basket Centrifuges
The perforated basket centrifuges are essentially like, big stable washing machines. They have a perforated basket or drum on the inside that spins really fast. Inside the drum, the plant material is placed in a nylon mesh bag of about 50 micron. You can get anywhere from 1 to 300 micron mesh bags.
Flooding vs. Non Flooding Basket Centrifuges
Flooding basket centrifuges are those which you can flood with liquid, then spin. They are for botanical extractions like vanilla, licorice, hemp. Technicians in a safe lab often fill the centrifuge with ground up herbs and ethanol and spin it up. Then out comes filtered tincture extraction with all of the good essential oils in the plant. These centrifuges can hold anywhere from 5-200lbs of plant matter per run and spin up to 1900RPM. They require special seals so as not to leak when filled with fluid.

Solid Bowl Centrifuges

The perforated centrifuge return the perforated centrifuge works well at you know any kind of botanical matter that that needs to be dried I have a customer drying sugar with it and other customers doing a botanical extractions that you know there?s there?s up to your half of the tincture that?s left in a soaked up in the plant matter so way to get that out would be a do you are oh way to get that out would be to spin and dry throughout through a filter so that the GeForce kind of pulls in our sexy through the sock and it?s a do you have a clean tincture and a dry plant matter moving up to 97% so the other basket centrifuges you can flood and then inside the basket so it?s flooded and ethanol and then inside the basket you have your plant material and then the centrifuges is spinning it?s a it?s an a cylinder and I are on the inside it basically spins the plant material through the ethanol and extract see the oil and medicine from the plant so both work in different applications there is there?s a few other type of centrifuge like separator or disc centrifuge that would be used if you have a high percentage of fluid and an an iPad like a 50-50 percent of fluid and are solid where are you want I?m sorry you have a high percentage of salad and a low high percentage of liquid and a low percentage of solid as a continuous fee this all comes at one port the stop with the water comes out the next part and the centrifuges are continuous flow means you can keep the flow going through them only stopping for periodic cleaning and harvestingThey all come with with motors that can be run continuously and are good for for labs and an in production as well along lasting motors and stainless steel and some come in aluminum as well
