Micron refers to the maximum size of a particle that can pass through the filter screen. Smaller microns result in finer filtration. Micron also called um is a length unit which is 0.001mm or 0.00003937inch On the other hand, mesh refers to the number of openings in the filter screens whereby larger mesh results in […]

Here’s a setup that produces a clean extract every time. This was with an amazing and experienced lab team. The system has a direct ethanol chiller with cryo pump, centrifuge with chilled jacket, vacuum filtration unit, Rotovaps and wiped film distillation system. They use the oil to make carts and edibles.

Here is the basic equipment used to make high quality crude oil from ethanol. First ethanol goes into the chillers. Then, ethanol and bud is combined in a mixing vessel, like a centrifuge. Then after centrifuging, the miscella(oil and ethanol solution) is then filtered. Next a falling film evaporator separates the ethanol and oil.

The two main type of centrifuges used for extraction are solid bowl and perforated basket centrifuges. Both of these types of centrifuges are excellent at separating liquid/liquid or liquid/solid mixtures. Both will trap particles down to 1 micron or less. Differences in liquid/solid ratios, solid size and flow rates will determine which cent
